  8. Welcome to Digital Music Player v1.00!

  10. --WHAT IS IT?------------------------------------------------------------------

  12. Digital Music Player is a MOD format music module player.  DMPlayer is also a
  13. multimedia player.  You can mix .WAV, .MID, and even .AVI files in with your
  14. .MOD files for an all-in-one player!  It is packed with features and will work
  15. with any audio adapter supported by MMPM/2.  It allows you to create SongLists
  16. of your favorite modules by drag and drop or conventional means.  These lists
  17. can be saved, loaded, and edited.  DMPlayer supports the playback of
  18. single-file archived modules as well.  So, now you can go and compress that 100
  19. megs of .MOD files with gzip (or zip, zoo, etc.)  and save yourself about 30
  20. megs of HD space!

  22. --INSTALLATION-----------------------------------------------------------------

  24. Digital Music Player needs no special setup.  Simply copy the program file
  25. 'DMPlayer.EXE' into a directory and create a program object if you desire.  You
  26. should copy the help file 'DMPlayer.HLP' into a directory that is in your help
  27. path.  DMPlayer can be placed anywhere.  It will search for, or create any
  28. files that it needs in the directory where the executable is.  This will allow
  29. DMPlayer to be run from the command line without cluttering your file system
  30. with DMPlayer.INI files.

  32. When you register you will receive the keyfile 'DMPlayer.KEY'.  This file
  33. should be placed in the same directory as 'DMPlayer.EXE'.

  35. --REGISTRATION-----------------------------------------------------------------

  37. Digital Music Player is ARIAWARE.  This means that you have the opportunity to
  38. use the program for 30 days free of charge.  This time is provided to you for
  39. the sole purpose of determining whether to purchase DMPlayer or not.  After
  40. this initial trial period, you must remove DMPlayer from your system if you
  41. have not registered.

  43. Registration costs $25 (US).  This small fee will provide you with a key file
  44. that will enable you to use the current, and all subsequent, versions of
  45. DMPlayer.  In other words, FREE UPGRADES FOR LIFE!  Yes, this is a good deal as
  46. DMPlayer will continue to evolve as long as people register.

  49. form.  Follow these instructions to find the information:

  51.    1.  Start DMPlayer.
  52.    2.  Press F1 at any window.
  53.    3.  Select 'Contents' from the Options menu of the help window.
  54.        (or press Ctrl-C)
  55.    4.  Double-click on 'Ariaware' and follow the instructions.
  56.    5.  Take this time to browse the rest of the online documentation for lots
  57.        of useful information.

  67. DMPlayer was designed from the ground up to take full advantage of OS/2's
  68. advanced features:

  70.    o  Multithreading ( uses several 'threads' to distribute the work )
  71.    o  Dynamic priority adjustment ( works well with other applications )

  73.    o  WPS aware

  75. DMPlayer plays a wide variety of music (and other media) formats:

  77.    o  .MOD 4 track, 31 and 15 instrument Protracker/Noisetracker modules
  78.    o  .MOD 4 and 8 track Startrekker modules
  79.    o  .MOD 6 and 8 track Fasttracker modules
  80.    o  .WAV audio sample files.
  81.    o  .MID MIDI song files.
  82.    o  .AVI Audio Video Interleave video animation files.
  83.    o  Any other format supported by MMPM/2 now or in the future.

  85. All of these files can be present in the same SongList providing an wide
  86. variety of playback options.

  88. DMPlayer works very well with the WPS.  Simply associate all of your .MOD files
  89. with Digital Music Player and they will be a double-click away from your ears.
  90. If DMPlayer is running, then you can add songs to the SongList in several
  91. different ways:

  93.    1. Selecting 'Add Songs' (or pressing INS) from the menu. You can then
  94.       select songs from the standard file dialog.
  95.    2. Dragging song files from the file system and dropping them on the
  96.       SongList.
  97.    3. Selecting one or more song files from a folder and selecting 'Open' from
  98.       their menu.
  99.    4. Typing 'dmplayer [list of filenames including wildcards]' from the
  100.       command line.

  102. There is full online help, so simply press 'F1' for specific help.
  103.  
  104. Registration information is available online.  Simply print out the
  105. registration form (from the online help) and follow the instructions.
